My philosophy as a Speech Language Pathologist is to help my patients become effective communicators in their every-day environment. It is also important for me to help them become more confident in their social interactions. Communication can be extremely difficult for a variety of reasons. It is important for me to make sure I am aware of the individual needs of each patient, whether they are elderly suffering with swallowing problems or post-stroke aphasia, or a child struggling with a speech impediment. In order to do this effectively, it is my goal to stay updated and current with my therapy techniques and knowledge on the subject of Speech-Language Pathology. I will attend continuing education classes as well as reading scholarly journal and research articles to keep myself informed. It is important for me to properly discuss treatment plan with the parents and maintain a happy and compassionate disposition as some news may come hard to certain individuals.
